FILMING THE APPARITION
EUTERPE

22m
The title tells the tale: behind-the-scenes during the filming of the legendary live-action feature-length film by Lawrence Jordan. Transferred from the original 8mm footage and presented sans soundtrack (as the initial material was photographed without sound). Filmed during the mid-1970s in Laytonville, roughly two-hundred-fifty kilometers north of the Golden Gate Bridge, with the assistance of students and faculty from the San Francisco Art Institute. The substantial backdrop in the initial on-the-set sequence was painted by George Kuchar.
