To most of us, music suggests definite mental images of form and color. The picture you are about to see is a novel scientific experiment. Its object is to convey these mental images in visual form.
A milestone in object animation, Oskar Fischinger manipulated hundreds of paper cut-outs hung on invisible wires and shot a frame-at-a-time in close synchronization to Franz Liszt's "Hungarian Rhapsody" where the dance of shapes resembles a voyage through an imaginary space.
"[T]he keen sensation of depth becomes a conceptual part of the action." — William Moritz
